About the Artist

Ryan Young was born and raised in Long Island, NY. He's a multimedia artist, living in Philadelphia. To conclude 2019, Ryan earned a BFA in Printmaking, from SUNY New Paltz.

Young uses art as a visual language to explore his identity, memory, and mysticism.

Ryan works with textures and complementary colors. Accurately represents his abstraction of nature. His thesis: 'There is Never a Disconnection Between Us and the Cosmos' transcended two-dimensional prints. Building 3D sculptures was a complicated yet rewarding process. His creative journey was cathartic and meditative.

Pulp-plants of cotton/abaca were transformed into sheets of paper, infused with organic elements. Berries/twigs were essential to bring Ryan's work to life. Fusion of spirituality and nature were apparent. Sculptures resembled fossils/ethereal beings. Copper wire was intentionally manipulated. Paper was methodically cut/wrapped around to resemble amorphous forms.

Using sense of touch allows Ryan to surrender. Advantageous for working with different mediums, such as: Painting, Printmaking & Graphic Design.

Young paints still-lives, nature, self-portraits and nude models. Simultaneously explores abstract expressionism as an emotional outlet.

Silkscreen and Monotype are Young's primary mediums with print., He is familiar with Intaglio, Papermaking and Lithography.

Variety of mediums represent the Artist's evolving relationship with himself, others and the Present Moment. Young's work blossoms to to intersect pattern and uncertainty. Sketches of people from different spaces is a recurring theme. Express his love for all beings.

Young's keen eye for Graphic Design is exemplified in the logos, brochures, and posters he has produced. He uses Adobe Suite to reflect his passion for illustration. Adobe Illustrator aids to digitally modify sketches and photographs. Useful for Ryan, to integrate with prints.

Intersection of subjective reality with nature, through an abstract lens, is Ryan's focus. Using art to reflect his perception and emotion(s), to spark conversation, is Young's intention
